The Bahamas


THE BAHAMAS

INTRODUCCIÓN:
The Bahamas is an independent state located in the Atlantic Ocean , north of Cuba. It is formed of 24 inhabited islands and 600 inhabited.
It is believed that the name "Bahamas" comes from a corruption of the words of the Spanish Baja Mar.
The Bahamas is a constitutional monarchy belonging to Commonwealth .
HISTORY
The first land on which they landed Christopher Columbus in the New World in 1492 are believed to have been on the island of San Salvador located south of the archipelago of the Bahamas.
PLACES TO VISIT:
Andros
At 6000 kilometres squared, Andros is the largest island in the Bahamas. It is 167 kilometres long and 64 kilometres wide, and boasts the world’s third-largest barrier reef, which is 225 kilometres long. This moderate zone is prone to hurricanes.
Cat Island
The Cat Island is located in the centre of the Bahamas. Cat Island boasts the highest point in the Bahamas, Mount Alvernia, whose summit of over 63 metres.
