Canada: Gobierno y politica por Alberto Laso


Canada has a parliamentary government with strong democratic traditions. The parliament consists of the Crown, a House of Commons elected by the people and a Senate. The Prime Minister is convened by a general election can be triggered by the government to ask the censure motion in parliament.
Senate members are elected by the prime minister and formally appointed by the Governor General. Canada's federal structure of government responsibilities divided between the federal government and the ten provinces.

Canada is also a constitutional monarchy, in which the Crown plays the role of an executive. This is Queen Elizabeth II, the viceroys who appoints the governor general and the deputy, who perform most of ceremonial functions of the monarch. The executive branch consists of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) is one of the most powerful institutions in government, as well as cabinet members, senators, federal court judges, heads of Crown corporations and government agencies and the governor general. The leader of the political party which has the second highest number of seats becomes the leader of the opposition and is part of an adversarial parliamentary system, the government intended to keep a constant check
